Just spent all morning cleaning and tidying the house in preparation for the estate agent. He spent two minutes whizzing round the house (he has already seen the particulars on-line from the previous time we tried to sell it!). He has valued it 35k lower them we want for it. I want to cry, well have done a little =-( I think we may have two options, stay here another two years or get a mortgage in Italy. Neither are particularly suitable. We just need to decide now how badly we want to move. Will discuss more tonight with OH. It has really p****d on my fire. Just want to go to bed and hide under duvet but not sure if the kids will let me, besides have to take DD2 riding in 25 mins. TTFN
PS Vasco is still not here (that is enough to make me want to scream!) however have been promised that he will be here on Saturday when I will be visiting my big sister in Devon. I am not holding my breath.

Paola - we did by renting - not ideal I know, but it gets you here, you can see if you like it and you can normally rent more for your money anyway. The place we are in is in an historic garden so would never have been for sale anyway! Think about it, it might be an answer...
Your place sounds gorgeous. OH does not want to rent because he thinks that it will be to easy to up sticks and move back. I am trying not to think about it to much =-(
Ha, ha - hysterical laughter here!
It's only easy if you leave all your stuff behind and come over with two suitcases and nothing else.
We packed up house and home and brought it out with us - most rentals here are unfurnished or only partly furnished. It's not unusual to have to buy a completely new kitchen as the previous renter has even taken the taps!!
Also the contracts are very detailed and very binding. If you wanted you could get a 4+4 ( 4 years with the option to take another 4) or 1 year or even 2 years. If you try to leave before the term is up you have to find a new tenant or pay for what's left of your contract. No incentive to just up and go! Plus having paid out nearly €12,000 just to get into this place - deposits etc., you are going to think twice before going back. It sounds the easy option - it ain't!
